Beginnings

American Airlines Angels

It all seemed to be going swimmingly.

Probably the only good thing about a redeye flight is that you can arrive to the airport in a leisurely manner, plenty of time to get checked in, no hurries, no worries.  A lovely fantasy, I know.

We arrived within the prerequisite '2 hours before'  timeframe.  Feeling pretty cocky, really.  Not even any check-in luggage. Footloose.  Fancy-free.

Upon presenting our documents for our flight check-in, well, the poor young woman seemed a little perplexed.  But that happens, right?  After all, Phyllis booked this flight through American, who then booked it through British Air, who then booked it through Iberia.  Capitalism has it's quirks, right?

But what can you do?  Smile reassuringly.  It's OK ma'am, your doing great.  Sure, maybe go get your supervisor.  Tappa-tappa-tappa.  Cell phone's out.  British Air customer support is actually closed right now?  Interesting.  Tappa-tappa-tappa.  1/2 hour.  3/4 hour.  1 hour.

At one point, the entire staff are helping us get checked in.  But the cool thing, these ladies are completely unflappable.  No stress.  Try this, try that.  Tappa-tappa-tappa.  Call so-and-so, try again.  Smile.

These are those ladies, at work for us, below.

Does anyone know who their names?  I wanted to write to American Air and give them props.

FINALLY they get it licked.  When a return segment was canceled, and then rebooked, the clerk kinda sorta canceled all the remaining segments, coming and going.  So...  these ladies worked it out, undid the bad, redid the good.  Mahaloa,  check in ladies of American Airlines (and especially the very competent supervisor)!

Sitting down on that cramped little airplane seat never felt so good.  Just a peek out the window, Sunset Kona style.  Aloha, Kona!  See you in a few!
